Does drooping eyelid affect vision?
If the drooping is mild and doesn’t cause any problems, treatment is usually not needed. However, if the eyelid lowers enough to block the field of vision, it can limit sight and interfere with daily activities.
Can lazy eye (amblyopia) be treated after age 9?
All children’s vision should be evaluated by a doctor before the age of 3 to start treatment early if needed. Treatment success for lazy eye is much higher during the first 9 years of life. After that, the chances of improvement decrease significantly. The length and type of treatment depend on the ophthalmologist’s assessment.
Is blepharoplasty permanent?
Yes, cosmetic blepharoplasty is designed to have long-lasting results. However, over time, skin elasticity and the quality of underlying fat and facial muscles change due to aging and environmental factors. Therefore, patients should protect the skin around their eyes with regular moisturizers and sunscreen to help maintain the surgical results as much as possible.
